A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos: Office chair

Office chair

When I finished our desk we realized we didn't have a chair to go with it. So I have been keeping my eyes out for one. We are using it as a double sided desk, our office stuff on one side and the kids computer/side on the other side. Right now there is a chest being used as a chair on the kid side that I will upholster, but for now it works.

I found this chair at GW for $3.99. Yeah, I know you hate me. Please don't tell me again.

I love how easy a chair transformation can be. Unscrew the cushion. Take previous trashed material off. Put one more layer of batting to soften it up for my ever expanding tushy. Reupholster using new electric stapler. Paint chair. Reattach cushion. Done and Done.

I've been struggling a lot lately with my spray paint bubbling and crackling when I put on the second coat. It has been a serious frustration for me! So, this time I just used it and dealt with it. It still looks great, in some areas it has a crackle effect, and I'm okay with it.

LOVE.

Am I right? How are your upholstery projects coming?

ditto on the spray paint! Actually, I can't seem to use spray paint at all. It crackles, it bubbles, it coats unevenly, it drips....despite repeated attempts, it is not my friend.

I had the same spray paint problem - randomly on a kid table and chairs, when spray paint has worked perfectly before. Just like you, the trouble came on the second coat. What is up with this?! {Seriously, does anyone know?}

Wonderful makeover! I find the spray paint only crackles if it's too humid and I try to recoat to quickly. Try waiting 24 hours between coats, if you can stand the wait!

After reading your blog (and Better After) for months i've been itching to get a chair to reupholster...and we got one at DI for $30. I know, I spent $30...for the most comfortable tufted back wingback chair ever. So now I have to find the perfect fabric (what color? it's going in our African safari lodge bedroom, but it has to look good on a tufted back wingback with classic styling...what have I gotten myself into?) and then start my first reupholstering project...once again, what have I gotten myself into? Wish me luck!

PS your stuff always looks so good!
