A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos

Tidbits of the week.

I'm here. Honestly. I'm in the midst of moving everything over to Wordpress and I tore my eyeballs out of their sockets yesterday...

Then put them back in to watch the kids run on the Slip n' Slide because it is 100 degrees and about the same humidity.

Also, my psycho neighbors all got together on Saturday morning at the crack of dawn and ran some stairs and did some sprints. Then we turned around the next day and ran 8 miles. I swear. These neighbors are trying to kill me. I couldn't walk for two days.

I've been painting a little, but we've been having a lot of fun going to the beach and hanging out, so I haven't been searching too much for stuff, but that will pick up as soon as both Jack and Porter are in summer school. Plus, I've got a sitter coming one day a week, so I can do some stuff for myself!

We do have big news in our house. If you have been reading for awhile you'll remember that Porter (our 5 year old) has terrible stage fright. HORRIBLE. Well, his 4K program was last Friday and I did what every normal parent would do. I bribed him with ice cream. I'm not above a little incentive...

That's him in the red and gray. He stayed the ENTIRE time. NO tears. He even participated...a little.

Do you know who cried like a baby? Me. I was so proud. SO proud I could hardly stand it.

There he is getting his 4K diploma. His teachers were so impressed with him. Love it. What a great kid.

You think I would end without a little more eye candy???

Oh, wait, this isn't beautiful....yet. I picked it up on the side of the road. The drawers are shot. But I just couldn't get rid of it. I have a BRILLIANT idea. Can't wait to show you.

Now this. THIS is some eye candy. I used Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue. I even have a more detailed post, but you'll have to wait until next time.

Stay tuned!

Meet Jillian

I love when a previous customer (ha! It's so funny to say that.) gives my name out. Love it! But this time it wasn't to do some painting, it was to buy some pieces to refab.

This little transaction brought me this piece:

I love these. This was in great shape too. And the drawers inside are red!

So, it was painted my favorite leaf green.

Then, I sat down and started painting the grooves. I used this brush...

a wet wipe and a glass of wine.

(It looks different here, because I took this photo at night.)

I asked the buyer if they were willing to take a little risk on the pulls. They trusted me. (Crazy fools.) And so I painted them NAVY....

I distressed it just a tish.

And I am completely in love.

Wouldn't you agree?! So great!

Love, love, love!

Our weekend

We went to Tom's parent's cabin this weekend in the Northwoods. It sounds fancy when you say "Northwoods".

We brought home this:

Just kidding!

I wanted to bring this home:

But where would I put it?

What we did bring home was a ton of wood for projects and a hand me down riding lawn mower so I can stop push mowing the lawn with Gus in the Kelty on my back.

We did a ton of this:

And just so you freak out a little more, I did this:

Remember when I was talking last week about the Northern Water Snake?! We held them.  And never for a second thought about bringing them home. But, since Tom and I really don't care for snakes that much, it was a huge feat for both of us to show our boys how brave we are!

Mom Ramblings #32

1. I'm moving. To Wordpress. We're working on it right now. Please come with me. You shouldn't have to do much to come with. Just don't go!

2. I'm thinking about doing this to our backsplash. I would really love to do old tin tiles, but I don't think that is going to happen. Unless I find a thousand smackers under my fridge, or in my oven. This is a sheet from Home Depot. And should only cost me about a hundred and fifty smackers to do our backsplash. Anyone done it? I think it is going to look cool. Hubs is in, as long as he doesn't have to do any work. Deal. Of course I'll show you when it's done.

3. The kids are on a reptile kick. They found a tree frog the other day and carried it around all day long. The darn thing even jumped across my kitchen floor. Porter traded it to the neighbor for a Zooble. Then she let it go. Who won that round?

4. Now they are trying to convince us to get a pet snake. Ha! Have I ever mentioned that Tom HATES snakes?

5. Porter got beat up by a table at school and he came home and his face was swollen and black and blue. The school never called me. I'm a little upset. And when I say swollen, it looks like he shoved two oranges in his cheeks.

6. My middle sister is PG. That's right, I'm spilling the beans. We FaceTimed her with our iPhones (LOVE technology) and we got to see her little belly. I cried. It's just such an amazing thing. They are going to make fantastic parents. Even if their baby has to sleep in the bathtub in their 600 square foot Brooklyn apartment....they should move home.

7. My Bridesmaid dress arrived for my youngest sister's wedding this summer. It's a convertible dress. Which does not mean that the top can come down with the push of a button. It means we can wear it a bunch of different ways. I think I'll try them all out, take a photo of each one, and then you can all decide which way I should wear it. That would be fun, right?! What do you think Lou?

8. My cheek/eye is still twitching.

9. The White Butterfly Furniture site is officially off blogger! We are now at www.whitebutterflyfurniture.com. You should have no problem following it and subscribing and RSS feeding over there to see all the furniture. If you so choose, of course. If you have problems, let me know. I'll try and help you out.
