A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos: Tiny table

Tiny table

I found this silly tiny table at Goodwill the other day for $6.99. Generally when something is that cheap I snatch it up....remember the club chair....ooohhh, I love that thing. That was only $6.99 and look how that turned out!
So I bought this little table. Part of one of the legs was cracked. No big deal, just have to glue it on. Right, then the whole little piece came off when I was gently shoving it in my car while the kids climbed all over it. Still, just glued it with some gorilla glue.  I had no idea what I was going to do with it....

But here's what I decided. First, paint it blue. Second, distress it, a little.

Next, glaze, glaze, glaze.

Then, take a picture of the pretty handle, but be just a tish too far away to actually see it...

This is better:

Finally, put your new, pretty cake stand and cloche with some oranges on top and wait for one of the kids to hit their head on it, break it, or eat all the oranges....

Lovely.

Update: Lots of questions about what color the blue is. It's 'Tropical Breeze' by Behr, in satin.

Wow! Even with the gluing you got a great deal for $6.99! I'm overdue for a visit to Goodwill, so I'm curious to see what they might have now after Christmas.

LOL!
In my house it would be, "CRASH!" one of the Dogs just skidded into it. :)

Really great job on this! I love both of your projects.

Ok, I'm totally enjoying blue painted furniture right now, and the orange is great against the blue too!

Ironically enough, I'm about to re-do our living room in Blue and Orange, with a tad of zebra thrown in for good measure. :) Check it out:

Love it- and yeah my kids would hit it first while they were running through the house after I told them not too. Then oranges would go running, glass would smash to the floor and then they'd look back with evil smiles and say - sorry mom.
ahhh kids.

Very pretty! I'd love to know what shade of blue that is. I have a TV stand that I think is calling out to me to paint it that color...

I wish the Goodwill in my area was as cheap as the one you shop at! That table would probably be marked at around $25 here! It's crazy!! You got a steal and I love your re-do!

I tell you what, my girl is 19, no bumping or running going on here at my house - you send that little cutie to me and I'll "keep" it for you for safe keeping!

Truly, it came out great and love the blue and orange together!

I love the color! When you paint furniture like that, do you sand? And what kind of paint? Did you brush on or spray paint?

January 8, 2010 at 10:14 AM
Blogger Kirsty said...

Jennifer - first, I just went to your site and you guys are too cute! I wish I could tell you I am very structured with my painting. But I'm not. I don't have enough time to be. Some things I will sand if it is really rough, but not much. I use Behr paint mostly in Satin. I may poly some stuff, if I think it needs it. I rolled this on the top with a tiny foam roller and then brushed the rest on with a crafting paint brush - I know, super fancy and professional....
