A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos: Coffee Filter Wreath

Coffee Filter Wreath

Today is Veteran's Day. Have you thanked a Vet today? Thank you to all who served, currently serve and will serve. You are appreciated!

Pretty, right? It wasn't when I started.

They've been all over the web. When we were kids we used coffee filters to make flowers and butterflies and other pretty things. And here's another pretty thing to do with cheapo coffee filters.

This project was laced with frustration and anger and ripping a couple dozen filters off the wreath and starting over....and burned fingers, and running out of filters, and glue sticks, and ugh....

I wasn't about to have another craft fail similar to the countless others, but most memorably the jute trees of 2009.

Wah-wah. It's like Debbie Downer from SNL....

Here's what I started with:

Oh, wait, that's after I ripped everything off to start over.

Here's how I got started the second time.

I put a layer on the back going towards the center. Not sure I really needed to do that after all was said and done.

To make my little blooms (that's what I'm calling them) I stuck my finger in the middle of the filter to make a point.

Then I twisted that point.

And glued it to the wreath.

I really stuffed them in so that it was nice and full and snug. I went around to see if there were any spots where I could see wreath and I shoved another filter in. Sometimes I had to squish them to make them level with the rest. I'm sure it's not perfect, but I love it.

Just noticed that lamp still has the plastic wrap on the shade. At least it has a shade! It sat without one for about 6 months!

How glorious and full is that wreath?!

 I think I'll make another.

Thank you for all the wonderful compliments on our table! And welcome to all the newbies! I hope I can fill you with a bunch of crap, I mean crafts, projects, diy tutes, mishaps, stories and fun. Enjoy the ramblings, enjoy laughing at me, I know many do. And it's okay. We're having fun!

Love that wreath. Very creative. I knew there was something crafty to do with those coffee filters. I've been playing with them trying to figure out what to do with them. Love the farm table too. Enjoyed your humor while explaing the table re-do instructions. Very creative you are. Hope you are having a good day.
