A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos: Meet Amy.

Meet Amy.

Did you know that I name many of my pieces? I do. And I name them all girls. Huh. I wonder why? Oh, maybe because I'm in a house full of boys and didn't get to use the girl names I liked....oh, yeah. That's why.

I don't name all of them. Only the ones that I do and no one claims before I post them finished. Just the ones I paint in my choice of color....my choice, my name. Ha! That's not true either, sometimes the ones that people buy before they get painted, get named after them.

I usually name them after people I know....this one is named after my friend Amy who just had a baby boy last week and he is going through a bunch of heart fixin' surgery and I was just thinking about them the day I did this, so I named it after her. Plus, it's beautiful. And so is she! (Hi Amy!) So send some prayers to baby Jackson, would ya?!

I picked it up at a hoarder's sale. That's right. A hoarder's sale. This house was unbelievable. There were antiques and stuff everywhere. You couldn't even walk without stepping on something....it was crazy.

It's walnut. It was a little wobbly, but I fixed that right up. It has a stamp under the top that says 1951. I thought that was cool. And the top is made from walnut planks. Which is also kind of cool.

I loved the top and thought it needed to stay so I just freshened it up a little. And the base. Oh, the base. I was thinking light turquoise, but I didn't have enough, so I used my trusty Rustoleum Lagoon.

Oh, I took the top off before I painted the base. Easy. After the paint was dry I sanded it all willy-nilly and then I took my dark walnut stain and rubbed some on, being careful not to be precise. I love how that ages it.

It turned out fantastic! I love it. Double heart with puffy paint love.

Every piece I do has a story. Whether exciting or not, there is a story. I love that.

It's not perfect, I'm learning to embrace those imperfections. Slowly but surely if I make a mistake I will be okay with it.....because look at that piece....it's gorgeous!

I will keep your friend Amy and her little one, Jackson, in my thoughts. My oldest who is 11 now, is a heart baby and had his open heart when he was five days old. Heart babies and their families hold a special place in my heart. If you want a great little gift to give them while he's recovering, the one thing that we still have is a small stuffed ladybug. Ladybugs are good luck this one was given to us by the red cross. It's my gift of choice to babies going through any rough times. Please keep us updated. :)

This is one of my favorite pieces from you. Love it! I have one very similar that I did...but mine is a mustard base. Prayers for baby jackson!

Kristy, this project turned out great. The table looks amazing with the Lagoon color. Thanks for using Rust-Oleum! Amy seems like a nice addition to your household :)
