My favorite so far...

First, thanks for all the great comments about the chairs!

Anita, I think you are right about the humidity and spray paint. At least that's what I've found. Humidity and spray paint do not mix!

Third, someone asked about my boots. They are Frye Cavalry W boots.

NOW.

I think this may be my favorite piece yet. Seriously. I love this thing. I think it is a dry sink. You know, where you put one of those gorgeous ginormous bowls and then a pitcher inside the bowl....oh, I would love one of those....

So, here it was when I picked it up from a garage sale for twenty bucks. I didn't want to spend that much, but I really loved it.

When I got it home I realized the outside had mold on it. Ugh. But, I got out my bleach, rubber gloves and gas mask and went to work.

It's just painted brown. Ugly.

I sanded the drawer fronts and the top.

Then, I primed the whole thing.

Then I painted the whole thing white and ran a few brush strokes over the drawer fronts.

Then, distressed everything with my palm sander. Apparently we have two. I found another one this weekend when I was cleaning the garage! Yippee!

Here's where the magic happened.

This is wood's bff. Forever. I love this stuff, and it smells yummy.

Just squeeze a bunch onto a rag and wipe onto the wood.

On the left is the conditioned. On the right, not. Let the stuff sit for about 20 minutes and then take a rag and wipe it off. And you are good to go.

Added some new knobs. From Marshall's. But if you want you can get them at Anthro too.

Seriously. Isn't that beautiful?!

I heart this piece of furniture.

  1. never heard of the feed and wax, great tip. I like leaving a little bit of the natural wood peaking through. Great knobs. World Market has started carrying some too and HobLob.

    Another great Kristy Kreation!

Gosh I love that finish. I had not heard of that wax but I have used Briwax. I love the soft sheen that a wax gives. Just wonderful!

  7. I was also wondering where you buy the wax? I just sanded a candle holder that looks similar to your furniture and thought how it would be a great way to redo some furniture. I love it.
