Mirror, mirror on the wall.

I'm tempted to become a cattle rancher because of this mirror. Cowboy boots, rope, big huge truck....the works. Maybe even a cowhide rug in my bedroom.

I quite like this mirror the way it is. Even though it's missing a star. I wish that I could have put it somewhere. But, alas it doesn't fit. So, time to refab. It was only $6.99....

You know what's funny? I spent $6.99 on this mirror. Without even blinking. That's how much I spend on most of my chairs too. But if I had to spend more than that on a chair I wouldn't buy it. Isn't that strange? I mean clearly a chair is worth more than this mirror. But, I cannot do it. Maybe $9.99. But that's it. My mind is odd. I must be a freak.

So, I knew I wanted this mirror to be that lovely shade of blue that I have used before, here. But, once I started painting, I realized that the hand painted parts were going to show through no matter what. And I just didn't want to spend time sanding it down. So, I grabbed my mod podge and some paper and started glueing.

Then I sanded the edges and glazed with Ralph Lauren Smoke Glaze. Under the blue was red and dark blue and when those colors came through it looked really cool with the paper I picked out. That was totally planned. Totally.

I love it. I think it turned out really well and adds a lot to our very neutral decor.

By the way, I've heard through the grapevine that Home Depot is discontinuing Ralph Lauren and is now shacking up with Martha Stewart. (Who has amazing colors too!) So, get your tush over to HD and get your gallon of glaze.
