A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos: Dresser down the street.

Dresser down the street.

Funny story about this dresser. Last year at our neighborhood garage sale I saw this dresser from my driveway way down at the end of the block. I was 9 months preggo so I didn't want to haul my tush down there to look at it and be bummed that it was too expensive (nevermind that I was running and biking daily. NEVERYOUMIND!) I was feeling lazy. So my neighbor and friend ran down there to take a look.

She came back and said it was 20 bucks. Fantastic! So I gave her the money and she went down there and started bartering with the lady. She got her talked down to $10. Great. But then this other lady pipes in and says, oh, I'll give you full price for it. Crap. Thinking quickly, SC (that's my neighbor/friend) told the lady that the dresser was for her friend who is about to deliver a baby and it's going to be really tiny and that the dresser is for the baby....blah, blah, blah....Guess who got the dresser?! That's right. For the last year it has been sitting in our guest room collecting dust. I love the dresser, BUT, I decided I wanted to move the Serpentine dresser with the harp mirror  in there (fancy term! Thank you dear reader for telling me what it was!) since it hadn't sold yet and I loved it so much. Then I would make over this one and sell it.

I can't find a before. But, just imagine it kind of a dirty white.

I spray painted the main part of the dresser with one coat of Rustoleum White in semi-gloss. Then I rolled on the gray with a foam roller. That took three coats.

I then took my hand sander, because I love it so, and did the edges and corners, just a little. In fact, you can barely tell.

I replaced the pulls. And done.

I love the two toned look of the dresser. White and gray together make me feel so calm....

Love those Anthro pulls that I got at Marshall's! Really need a good place to stage these photos. Ugghh. My garage isn't doing them justice!

It's listed for sale, but if it doesn't sell it's going back up to the guest room because I just sold the serpentine dresser today. Yeah for the customer getting it! Sad for me not keeping it....

This looks so good! I've been wanting to paint something white. I found a two tiered end table with wire mesh sides and I was thinking black, but maybe gray! I have some brushed nickel spray for the mesh. Wonder if it would show up with the gray though.

Why don't I ever think of doing two-tone projects? I really love this. I'm sure it will sell... you won't have to worry about moving it to the guest room!!!!
