Mom Ramblings #4

1. I don't watch American Idol. Gasp! I know. I'm sure you are all in shock. I don't watch The Bachelor either. Can you believe it?! I just can't get into either one of them. AND if I do watch Biggest Loser I don't start watching until close to the end of the season the stories make me sob. And I just can't take any more sobbing...

2. When oh when is Friday Night Lights going to be on again? And can you believe LOST. Holy cow.

3. I'm selling stuff. Stuff I've reupholstered, painted, stained, aged, slaved over... If you want to buy anything, let me know. I'm serious. (Thanks Joe for the continuous suggestions!) I love the thrill of the hunt, the thrill of picking out fabric, the pure work to morph things into something new, but it's time to make some mullah (is that how that is spelled? Mullah, money, cash - you know proof that I can contribute to the income of the family and pay for these beauties...)

4. I haven't showered in three days...gross. I need to shower.

5. I'm rereading Love and Logic. For the 4th time. Why isn't it soaking in?

6. Tom goes out of town three days a week and I AM SO TIRED OF IT! I miss my hubby. I don't know how single parents do it. If you are a single parent, you are my hero.

7. While snuggling and playing with Jack the other day we had a conversation:
Me: (Giggling) Jack, you're a pain...
     Jack: (Giggling) In da butt.

8. One of the things I struggle with with my kids is how hard to push them...or not to push them out of their comfort zone. Where do you draw the line at challenging them to do things and just letting them not do things...how do you know? How do parents do this?

  1. I don't watch much on tv...none of the shows you mentioned with any regularity...However, I never miss the Real Housewives on Bravo...a really terrible show!
I have read Love and Logic-I have also attended the seminar, and when I was a teacher-applied the principles in my classroom...With small children, though, I found it hard to do-I happen to like: Shepharding a Child's Heart, and (On Becoming) Babywise...those were my parenting Bibles when my boys were little...and also Creative Correction-That is what I am using right now...it has GREAT ideas!!!

You know I Love your concept store! I think this is great-
    And those fabrics are AWESOME!!!
    {Now, go get in the shower...you stink! :)}

  2. Ah the luxury of a shower when you have little ones, I know all about that! I think it's great that you are selling things you have made, I have been admiring your projects for some time now! It amazes me you can get so much accomplished with 3 boys in the house (I have 2 and don't come anywhere close!)

  3. "I love you too much to argue." A well-worn phrase around here!

Okay, so where do I peruse your wares for sale???

  4. Well I don't watch Idol, Bachelor or LOST! Gasp! :) I do, however, watch Biggest Loser, start to finish. Although I truly believe they could condense the two hours into 1. Thank you DVR!

My husband has traveled Monday to Friday from Jan. to June since we met. This is our first year without that situation and it's changed our lives. I feel for you.

Also, I'm struggling with pushing my oldest as well. He's in karate, but now that it's getting harder, he wants to quit. What to do, what to do?
    Love your ramblings! Happy Friday!

  5. I'm right there with ya on #3. I can't squeeze one more piece of furniture in my house comfortably, so I'm going to start trying to sell as well. It's kind of scary, 'cause you have to get a few things done so you can show people what you do. I'm thinking about taking stuff to some local shops and seeing if they want to work out some kind of consignment deal. Good luck with your venture!

  6. Oh my gosh, LOST! Are you dying over it???
For the life of me I cannot get into the Bachelor or AI either. That's okay, I can spend all of my time being excited about LOST.
    Love the fabric.

  7. How are you going to sell it? Craigslist? I've thought about doing that before, but I'm not sure where to sell it!

  8. Oh, and would you recommend Love and Logic? I have a toddler, but I teach k-12 TAG. Thanks!

  9. Are you doing Craigslist? Email me links if you do!!

Any coasters up for grabs? I need some (4).......BUT, I have not found anything retail I like as much as the ones you have made.

  10. Love and Logic is great. I used it as a school counselor too. I agree Lori that it is hard to do with little ones.

I actually babywised all three of our kids. It's good stuff. Jack is just being difficult and is beyond toddlerwise, but not quite to love and logic - he's nearly 3....booohooo...

I put 4 things on craigslist at 10 pm last night and I had 6 emails about it by 8 am!

Here's the link if you guys want to take a look...

I've got two new chairs that I finished about two minutes ago too. And I love them!

  11. Cool. I'm reading The Happiest Toddler on the Block right now, and it's alright, but I can't make it work really well, either. Maybe I'll try Toddlerwise next.

I can't believe you're selling that round ottoman! I love it!

  12. I know Katie, I can't believe I am either. I'm kind of hoping no one buys it. It's my absolute favorite thing of them all.
