A little of this...a little of that...

I didn't have many projects on my list for this week. Okay, I do have some, I just wasn't sure I was ready to tackle them. A few of the things I had were re-do's, like the mishap here. Another was painting this:

I wanted to paint it, I just didn't want to paint it. Or sewing this:

(More on this in the next post. Oohh, is that a teaser? Will it keep you waiting and wanting more?)

So, I did them this week. The other day I turned that ugly white fan into this:

That very first picture with the green walls is actually in baby Gus' room. I started with the one in the guest room. I was nervous. I wasn't taking it off the ceiling. Oh, friends, please don't tell Tom. I don't even think he's noticed that I painted it! I started by freaking out. Then I figured I would just go for it. I taped paper bags to the ceiling and wrapped the light bulb fixture thingy in tape. I didn't take pics of the process because I was FREAKING OUT. I was so scared I was going to spray paint the entire room. Guess what? I only spray painted A FEW things in the room.

I took all the blades off (boy was that disgusting) and then started spraying. I used Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze, I really like that stuff. I just did super quick, light sprays. Nothing fancy, around, and around the light.

Now that I've done this one (two left), I know what to do next time. More coverage with the paper bags. I sprayed a little on the ceiling and had to do some touch ups. I also sprayed a little on the wall. No wall paint left, so that's still there. Oops. That goes on the to-do list.

  4. what a difference that makes! I helped my GF with one, but it was before it was installed, lol. I also have a client that wants me to paint the blades w/Pooh stuff - but just the blades :)

  6. Hubby freaked about that too. But I read a ton online and no one said it couldn't be done. Although, I did turn off the power to the fan from the electrical box, not just the light switch, while I was spraying and while everything dried.

No problems. It's been used several times!
