Just had to get it done.

Update: Just for fun I shared this at Thrifty Decor Chick, A Soft Place to Land , Trash to Treasure. And Today's Creative Blog. It's amazing what people think up!

I was a woman on a mission. I had this vision of what this ottoman was going to look like and I wanted to get it done! So with some words of wisdom from my father-in-law, who helped with the button attachments, I finished it!

Here is the before. $28 table from Habitat for Humanity Restore. Yes, that's pleather on the top...

And the after:

Here's an in-between photo:

I found the to-die-for fabric with some help from my sister-in-law, Carole at a local fabric store that is moving and it was 40% off! The most expensive part of the whole project was the foam insert. At $40 a yard, it was not cheap. Apparently petroleum based products are not going down in price, like gasoline....bummer.  This was a true labor of love. The buttons were not easy to do and the screws in the bottom of the table were old and there was gum in some of the holes (gross), so I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get the legs off. The buttons are attached with dental floss and I nailed a tiny upholstery tack next to each hole for the floss to wrap around and stay secure.

At first I was going to paint the legs, but right now I am just going to leave them the way they are and see how I like it. I am really loving this butterfly project!
