For moms with girls

Here's a reason to have girls to dress up in cute clothes - really, how adorable are these:

Matilda Jane Clothing

Yeah for moms who don't have to worry about spending a fortune on cute girls clothes. Now if I can just keep them away from the expensive and time consuming sport of HOCKEY!!!!

Easter

The Easter Bunny came to our house last Sunday and boy did he leave some goodies. It's a good thing that the boys forgot about the candy quickly because I've been eating most of it! Thanks to my friend Jenn for the jelly bean trail idea - it was a big hit! The second the boys stepped out of their door there was a cup and a trail of jelly beans all the way down the stairs and around the house to their Easter Baskets. Jack ate every other jelly bean and we nearly had a trail mix-up, but it was so much fun! We also hid eggs and they had a great time trying to find all the eggs they could. Tom's parents were here for the weekend so they got to see the whole mess! It was quite entertaining. We drove to Madison to have brunch with Tom's grandma and his aunt and uncle. The boys were very well behaved and of course a hit with the seniors.

Then that afternoon we went and flew kites in the backyard. Amazingly both boys flew the kites all by themselves! We must live in the windiest spot in the city, because those kites stayed up forever.

How can you not love these faces?

If I could leave Tom for an inanimate object it would be these two hats. I am so in love with them. I am currently wearing the one with the buttons. These are from Susie Knits. Thank you Susie! I love, love, love them. The white one is soooo tiny. I opened the bag and saw it and nearly cried at how tiny it is. I can't wait for the baby to get here to put it on him... And photos in it... Oh, I am just dying...I am giddy with excitement over these hats.

The Water Heater Guy

Today we had someone here to fix the water heater. Long story, but we used to have to light the heater to get some hot water and NOW after the guy came to fix it we have NO HOT WATER! Good thing we belong to the Y, hopefully they don't mind seeing a nako pregnant woman washing in the pool!

The funny part of this is that Porter has certainly come out of his shell and has become very friendly with people. Porter and Tom were downstairs with Leonard the water heater repairman and it was time for Porter to go to bed, so Porter wanted to say goodnight to the guy and went over to him and said goodnight and tried to give him a hug and a kiss! Funny! He came upstairs very sad and explained what happened. I had to then explain to him that we don't hug and kiss strangers...at least not until he gets to college.

It's too bad that I just had to go upstairs and bring the hammer down on them for playing instead of sleeping! I told them that if they talked they would have to go sleep in the garage.

Jack's Big Day!

Jack turned 2 yesterday. My how time flies. It has gone by so quickly. I never realized how quickly time goes by until I had kids. It is truly amazing. Every day Jack is learning something new and it is so fun to hear him use new words and develop new skills. I try and remember when Porter did those things and of course, my horrible memory does not aide me a bit. It is amazing how different these two little beings are and it will be so interesting to throw another little one in the mix. I can't wait.

Jack received lots of special presents for his birthday. One of the greatest, was a cold. You can see in the photos his eyes are all glassy and his nose is runny. The cold made him cranky and tired, but we still went to McDonald's for dinner and came home and had cake and opened presents.

It amazes me that Jack has so many words and knows so many things - I'm sure it helps to have a brother bossing him around! Here are some photos from the festivities.

Happy Birthday Jack! We love you!

Birthdays and Big Strides

A couple highlights from the past few days:

We went to a Bike Swap in the neighboring town last Saturday. It wasn't anything special, BUT, Porter and I are now famous in the town of Oconomowoc, WI. We made the local paper.

Also, in my attempt to become a "real photographer" as opposed to a fake one, I took Jack's two year pictures. I am not nearly as good at this as my friend Medora, but I'm trying! I wish she were here to give me tips - or take their pictures for me!

I signed Porter up for his first swimming lessons all by himself. I am really nervous about these. He doesn't seem to care that much. But we'll see what happens when he realizes that he is going to be in that water with some stranger and not me. I will be watching from the side...

He also made huge strides today. We have been going to the Y for the last few months so that I can save my sanity and the boys can get some interaction and play time with other kids. Porter and Jack have been going to Kids Care while I workout. Because Porter can tell the teachers when he has to go potty he has been given the chance to go and play in the gym with the big kids. For the last two months he has chosen to stay and play with Jack in the small room. But not today! Today when all the kids lined up to go to the gym Porter decided he was ready to go with them. I saw him playing in there after my spin class and I was so excited. He was playing basketball, throwing the ball around and trying to dribble. It was so cool. Big strides, I tell ya. Big strides.

How boring is this? The boys rooms are nearly finished. Porter's new bed is in his room and there are a few things on the walls. For now we are going to keep Jack in the toddler bed, he's sleeping in it (after I put railings up) but he is not ready for a big bed yet. In a couple of weeks we will put them in the room together. I am currently waiting for Tom to put in a closet system to get their clothes organized in there! Waiting, waiting, waiting....

Easter Egg hunt at the Y this weekend and another Bike Expo. Then Jack's birthday! We aren't doing anything special. Probably just cake and ice cream and presents. I mean, he is only two....and we only know about four families here!

Malted Milk Balls

I've been thinking about my mom a lot lately. Today while at the grocery store, I happened to leave with a bulk candy bag full of malted milk balls.....
