A Little Bit of Sanity and A Lot of Chaos: A little avoidance gets a lot done.

A little avoidance gets a lot done.

Today is St. Patrick's Day. For most of my 33 years I thought I was half Irish, half Norwegian.  Just a few years ago, we were told, that no, in fact, you aren't half and half. You're actually Norwegian, German, Russian, and a little Irish. Really? What does that even mean? All I know is my grandmother used to feed us corned beef and cabbage every St. Patrick's Day. I hated it. Apparently my sister Sara loved it. And, a few years ago my Dad sent me this fantastic cookie jar with shamrocks on it and inside it was filled to the brim with Cheryl and Co. Cookies. Hey Dad! What happened? Where are my cookies? Ummm...gift horse...

We are not having corned beef and cabbage. We may drink green milk.

I've got something that needs to be painted...anyone want to guess what it is? Instead of painting this something I've been painting a bazillion other things.

Remember this:
Now it looks like this:

And it's sitting up here:

The mantel is a work in progress.
See those silver candlesticks on the end? First they were silver. Then I painted them ORB. Now they are back to silver. Should have left them, I guess.

Sure, I'll show you more.
After, but before (this was a GW find):

Today it looks like this:
I'm pretty sure now I absolutely must have wood floors to pull this off....it's life or death really.

One more:
This fan:
Oh, pretend the walls are blue, cause this is Gus' room, not the older boys' room.
It became this fan:

This is the older boys' room.

Tomorrow I'll tell you the step by step for it. It's gorg and a pain in the arse.

I didn't take my fan down. I newspapered the ceiling, took the blades off for a good scrubbing and done. About a two day evening project. If I had moved the bed out of the room it would have been easier.

is that the same fan? the after looks great. I want to know how you did it so I can do it in my kids' rooms, I think our fans are the same.
The coffee table looks so good white too.

Glad you are going to do the step by step tomorrow. I have some ugly fans in need of help. Any idea if I can swap out the lights fairly easy? My son's has a globe and put out crap for light. He needs something like yours to give off more light!
Can I make a mantel suggestion? I know you didn't ask so don't hate. I would put less up, move the tall candle sticks in a bit and group things together. Layer the empty frame more in front of the mirror. If you have a taller one that would be great too. Something with a bit more height.Ok, I'm done, don't hate!

Love the little jar-
and corned beef! You need to make my hubby's recipe-it is to die for-Serious! It is that good-
Brown sugar makes everything good-even corned beef...

As usual, you impress and amaze me with your talent!

Oh, Anita! Don't you worry, friend. I wouldn't hate for that! I told you it was a work in progress! Suggestions on it are much appreciated.

I can never decide if I want it overflowing with stuff and gorgeous. Or simple and gorgeous. Either way, when the new one gets finished in a few days, it should be gorgeous!

Thanks for the suggestions!
